World renowned Mixed Martial Arts broadcaster joins The Score as official on-air MMA personality
TORONTO, October 14, 2009 – Score Media Inc. (TSX: SCR) today announced that one of the most well known and respected MMA broadcasters in the world, Mauro Ranallo, has officially joined its roster of on-air personalities. Primarily responsible for The Score’s combat sports content, Ranallo will continue hosting The MMA Show on the station as well as The Fight Show, a one hour talk show heard Monday-Friday at 4pm Eastern on Hardcore Sports Radio SIRIUS channel 98. Among his new responsibilities, Ranallo will be creating daily MMA segments that can be seen on The Score’s television and web platforms. Ranallo will also be hosting MMA Fight Night every Friday and Sunday night on The Score. The 2-hour program will feature bouts from some of the world’s top MMA organizations including season one of the Bellator Fighting Championships.
“I am very excited about my new role with The Score and given the growth of MMA in recent years, I expect that many Canadians will welcome even more of The Score’s in-depth MMA programming," says Mauro Ranallo, MMA Host, Score Media Inc.
Best known for his play-by-play commentary for fights around the world, Ranallo began his career as an announcer and manager at the age of 16 when he was offered a job with Vancouver’s All-Star Wrestling organization. Since then he has held broadcast positions with Stampede Wrestling in Calgary, Japan’s PRIDE Fighting Championships and Hardcore Championship Fighting. Immediately prior to joining The Score, Ranallo was the lead news anchor for The Fight Network.
Ranallo appeared in front of the biggest TV audience in MMA history when he joined the CBS broadcast team to call the action for Elite XC: Primetime in 2008. Returning to major network television on November 7th, 2009, Ranallo will once again be on the CBS broadcast team for the STRIKEFORCE card headlined by one of the world’s top pound-for-pound fighters, Fedor Emelianenko, and the undefeated Brett Rogers.
