Bret “Hitman” Hart Moves Closer to Walk of Fame Glory

- Campaign led by theScore means Calgary wrestler will now be considered for honour

Tweet this release: http://thesco.re/IDav5V

TORONTO, May 1, 2012: WWE legend Bret ‘Hitman” Hart has moved one step closer to cementing a place on the Canada Walk of Fame thanks to the massive public support generated through a social media campaign led by television sports network theScore.

Thousands have voted in favour of the Calgary man becoming the first professional wrestler to be featured on the walk, with Aftermath presenter Arda Ocal leading the charge, supported by charity March of Dimes Canada, which Hart is a dedicated supporter of and the spokesperson of its Stroke Recovery Canada® program.

And last night, after the public nomination period closed, officials overseeing the process confirmed Hart would now be seriously considered for one of seven new spots on the Walk of Fame after being bombarded with thousands of nominations following the #bretforthewalk campaign.

“When we started this campaign less than three weeks ago the goal was a simple one: to ensure Bret ‘Hitman’ Hart would be seriously considered for a place on Canada’s Walk of Fame,” said Ocal. “We’ve now achieved that objective, with the final decision now resting in the hands of the Walk of Fame committee after he secured more nominations than any other non-posthumous candidate.

“We thank everyone for their amazing support and hope we’ll have even more to celebrate in September when Bret will hopefully be inducted and finally be rightly recognized as a true Canadian legend.”

The campaign generated massive interest in the social media world, with highlights including a website article and supportive tweets from the WWE themselves, as well as tweets from former rival Shawn Michaels and pro wrestling commentator Jim Ross.

A current Walk of Fame inductee and fellow March of Dimes supporter, William Shatner, also tweeted his support to his one-million plus followers.

And March of Dimes, who Hart began supporting following his own recovery from a stroke in 1999, said they were delighted the campaign had been so successful.

“We are so grateful to Arda and The Score for starting what has really become a movement. It comes as no surprise to us that so many people leant their support to this Campaign – Bret is a beloved figure, as much for his legendary work as a wrestler as his incredible support of so many charities,” says Mary Lynne Stewart, Director of Fund Development and Communications for March of Dimes Canada.

“Bret offers hope and inspiration to stroke survivors and others living with disabilities across Canada – and it’s for this, and so many other reasons, that we hope to see his star shining brightly on Canada’s Walk of Fame this September.”

Score Media Inc. Releases Q2 Results

- TV advertising revenues continue to grow

- Digital media assets generate record audience growth

- Score Media secures first direct U.S. digital media sales

Tweet this release: http://thesco.re/HtZ5NS

TORONTO, April 12th, 2012 – Score Media Inc. (TSX: SCR) today announced its financial results for the second quarter ended February 29, 2012 in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (“IFRS”).

Revenue for the three months ended February 29, 2012 was $10.4 million compared to $11.0 million in the three months ended February 28, 2011.

Broadcast revenues for the three months ended February 29, 2012 was $9.7 million compared to $10.2 million in the three months ended February 28, 2011.

An increase of 2% in theScore’s advertising revenue from $5.8 million to $5.9 million was offset by revenue reductions from the closure of theScore Satellite Radio and lower contra revenues.

Digital media revenues for the three months ended February 29, 2012 was $0.7 million compared to $0.8 million in the three months ended February 28, 2011.

Following the end of the quarter, Score Media closed its first two major U.S. digital media sales agreements, which will positively impact digital media revenues in Q3 and Q4.

EBITDA (see “Definitions”) for the three months ended February 29, 2012 was $40,000 compared to $1.1 million in the previous year, primarily as a result of a planned increase in expenditures on personnel and technology to support the significant growth in the audience of the Company’s digital media platforms.

Broadcast EBITDA for the three months ended February 29, 2012 was $2.2 million compared to $3.2 million in the three months ended February 28, 2011, primarily related to revenue reductions noted above and increased rights fees related to the Company’s expanded content partnership with the WWE.

Digital media EBITDA loss for the three months ended February 29, 2012 was $0.8 million compared to a $0.6 million EBITDA loss in the three months ended February 28, 2011, primarily related to planned increases in product development expenditures and sales costs to develop the US direct sales market.

Corporate costs for the three months ended February 29, 2012 were $1.4 million compared to $1.5 million in the three months ended February 28, 2011.

“Last year’s Q2 TV advertising revenue was exceptional for us, so it’s encouraging to see continued growth off that base for the same quarter in 2012,” said John Levy, Chairman and CEO, Score Media Inc. “We are also very excited about the continued growth of the digital side of our business, with these assets seeing record audience figures for Q2, as well as increased sales traction in U.S. which has led to us closing our first two major digital sales deals in this market.”

The Company’s digital media assets registered record audience growth in Q2/12:

ScoreMobile applications averaged 3.4 million unique users per month in Q2/12, growing by more than 1.3 million unique users per month, or over 65%, from Q2/11.

theScore.com averaged 1.4 million unique users per month in Q2/12, an increase of 50% or 0.5 million unique users per month over Q2/11.

Highlights during the Q2 period included Score Media Inc. announcing an extension to its programming partnership with Bellator Fighting Championships through its sixth season. The deal means theScore will broadcast Bellator’s Summer Season as well as its seventh season later in the year and provided mixed martial arts fans with another year of access to fights across theScore’s multiplatform assets, including theScore Television Network, theScore.com and its industry-leading application, ScoreMobile.

In January, Score Media Inc. announced it had entered into a long-term programming agreement with FOX International Sports Channels, including at least 250 hours a year of live collegiate content and other FOX Sports and FUEL TV programming. This deal provided viewers of theScore with access to games featuring powerhouse schools like Oklahoma State, Texas, Oklahoma, Oregon, USC, and Stanford.

In December, the company secured exclusive television rights to the FIFA Club World Cup in Japan. As a result, theScore provided live coverage of the tournament, live streaming both semi-finals and the final on theScore.com. In addition, its leading soccer app ScoreMobile FC was also made available for Windows Phone, with full coverage in English and Spanish.

In the same month, theScore welcomed the return of the NBA to the network. theScore’s top coverage included the launch of Court Surfing, with new hosts The Basketball Jones taking viewers through the most exciting NBA games of the night.

The Company recognized a $1.9 million receivable relating to the eligible costs under the Ontario Interactive Digital Media Tax Credit incurred during fiscal 2010 and 2011. $1.0 million of this amount related to employee salaries and benefits previously expensed under the digital media segment, $0.7 million of this amount related to costs previously capitalized in intangible assets, and $0.2 million of this amount related to amortization relating to previously capitalized digital media intangible assets.

Alessio

HAMILTON, March 16th, 2012 – Before a capacity crowd at Hamilton Place Theatre in Hamilton, Ontario, The Score Fighting Series lightweight (155 pounds) main event fighters John “The Natural” Alessio (34-14) of Las Vegas, Nev. via Duncan, BC and “Diamond” Ryan Healy (19-10-1) of Portland, Ore. lit-up the venue with an all-out firefight before Alessio emerged the victor by way of unanimous decision after three rounds.

Fast-rising bantamweight (135 pounds) star Josh Hill (8-0) of Hamilton extended his perfect record with a dominant performance and unanimous decision victory over Eric Wilson (5-2) of Saskatoon in the co-main event.

Both Alessio and Healy came out of the gates ready for a stand-up war, but it was the 32-year-old Alessio, a veteran of UFC, PRIDE and WEC who put Healy down with a sharp jab in the early going and continued to tag Healy with punches throughout the round after Healy made it back to his feet.

Healy began to turn the tables in the second stanza, connecting with punches to the head and body that staggered and gradually slowed Alessio down.

In the third round, a bloody Alessio scored two takedowns on Healy. On both occasions, Alessio took his opponent’s back, but couldn’t finish Healy before the final bell sounded.

“I said coming into this fight that this guy has zero quit in him,” said Alessio. “I said he could take abuse. He dished out abuse too. I hope I showed I can take a pounding. I knew I (shouldn’t) go too crazy on him because he’s one of those guys who will turn it around on you and he did.”

The 25-year-old Hill scored a total of four of takedowns on Wilson over the course of three rounds. Wilson, a seasoned grappler known for his slick groundwork, fought off his back and fended off Hill’s punches from guard position in the first two rounds.

In the third stanza, Hill scored the fourth takedown of the fight and made his way to full mount position, raining down furiously on Wilson with punches. Wilson repeatedly popped his hips up and rolled.

While he was unable to escape the mount, Wilson survived the final round before the Hill was awarded the decision.

In other main card action and what will likely be nominated for Fight of the Year, UFC veteran Forrest “The Meat Cleaver” Petz (24-9) of Cleveland, Ohio staged a monstrous comeback after being sent to the canvas early in the first round with a hook from Sergej Juskevic (11-7-2) of Toronto via Lithuania in a welterweight (170 pounds) battle.

Seemingly out on his feet from Juskevic’s relentless barrage of punches and knee strikes, Petz suddenly showed life and began countering Juskevic’s shots with his own knees and hands before the opening round came to a close.

In the second frame, the high-speed pace continued as Petz rocked Juskevic and sent the Lithuanian import to the ground with a right hand. Petz pounced on the downed Juskevic and fired a series of left and right hands from top position.

After the pace of the action slowed on the mat, the referee stood the two fighters up. Once again, Petz wasted no time going back to work, blasting Juskevic until the referee stepped in and stopped the fight, giving Petz the TKO victory.

In another highlight – not just of this evening but the history of The Score Fighting Series events – Lyndon Whitlock defeated Corey Houston with one of the greatest knock-outs ever seen inside the SFS cage. A mainstay for highlight reels to come.

Twenty nine-year old lightweight (155 pounds) rising star Alex Ricci (5-0) of Woodbridge, Ontario extended his perfect professional record by taking out Iraj Hadin (6-4) of Portland with a single counter left hand that put Hadin on the canvas in the first round of action. Ricci, a dangerous kickboxer, fought off an early takedown attempt by Hadin and exploded on his opponent with a right hand that put Hadin down and brought the fight to an end.
