Score Media Reports Revenue Growth in 2009


Year-end results demonstrate revenue growth across all media platforms

TORONTO, Oct. 21, 2009 – Score Media Inc. (TSX: SCR) today announced its financial results for the fourth quarter and fiscal year ended August 31, 2009:

  • Revenue for the year ended August 31, 2009 increased by $2.5 million to $38.9 million compared to $36.4 million in the year ended August 31, 2008.  The company had increases in TV revenues as well as web and mobile revenues.
  • EBITDA for the year ended August 31, 2009 was $3.8 million compared to $5.9 million in the previous year, due mostly to planned investments in HD programming and marketing
  • Net loss for the year ended August 31, 2009 was $1.5 million, compared to net income of $2.0 million in the previous year, due primarily to the above noted investments in HD programming and marketing, and increased depreciation expense of $1.5 million related to Score Media’s new HD broadcasting facilities
  • Fourth quarter revenue increased by $0.4 million to $8.9 million compared to $8.5 million in the prior year.  Fourth quarter EBITDA was $0.7 million compared to $1.6 million in the prior year.

Score Media Brings Mauro Ranallo into the Mix


World renowned Mixed Martial Arts broadcaster joins The Score as official on-air MMA personality

TORONTO, October 14, 2009 – Score Media Inc. (TSX: SCR) today announced that one of the most well known and respected MMA broadcasters in the world, Mauro Ranallo, has officially joined its roster of on-air personalities. Primarily responsible for The Score’s combat sports content, Ranallo will continue hosting The MMA Show on the station as well as The Fight Show, a one hour talk show heard Monday-Friday at 4pm Eastern on Hardcore Sports Radio SIRIUS channel 98. Among his new responsibilities, Ranallo will be creating daily MMA segments that can be seen on The Score’s television and web platforms. Ranallo will also be hosting MMA Fight Night every Friday and Sunday night on The Score. The 2-hour program will feature bouts from some of the world’s top MMA organizations including season one of the Bellator Fighting Championships.

“I am very excited about my new role with The Score and given the growth of MMA in recent years, I expect that many Canadians will welcome even more of The Score’s in-depth MMA programming," says Mauro Ranallo, MMA Host, Score Media Inc.

Best known for his play-by-play commentary for fights around the world, Ranallo began his career as an announcer and manager at the age of 16 when he was offered a job with Vancouver’s All-Star Wrestling organization. Since then he has held broadcast positions with Stampede Wrestling in Calgary, Japan’s PRIDE Fighting Championships and Hardcore Championship Fighting. Immediately prior to joining The Score, Ranallo was the lead news anchor for The Fight Network.

Ranallo appeared in front of the biggest TV audience in MMA history when he joined the CBS broadcast team to call the action for Elite XC: Primetime in 2008. Returning to major network television on November 7th, 2009, Ranallo will once again be on the CBS broadcast team for the STRIKEFORCE card headlined by one of the world’s top pound-for-pound fighters, Fedor Emelianenko, and the undefeated Brett Rogers.

Score Media Announces Management Promotions

  • Asha Daniere has assumed the role of Senior Vice-President and General Counsel.  In this corporate leadership role, Asha will have primary responsibility for Score Media’s business and legal affairs and will also assist with corporate development activities.
  • Don Moen has been promoted to Senior Vice-President, Sales.  A member of The Score’s Sales team since the network’s launch in 1997, Don will oversee all of Score Media’s multiplatform sales initiatives.
  • Sam Nasrawi has been promoted to Vice President, Creative Services. Sam will be primarily responsible for all in-house creative and agency services and will also take an active role in the overall look and feel of The Score’s multiplatform programming.

Score Media’s Hardcore Sports Radio Broadcasts Canadian Football League Games on SIRIUS Satellite Radio


SIRIUS Channel 98 brings primetime CFL coverage to listeners across North America

TORONTO, July 9, 2009 – Score Media Inc. (TSX: SCR) today announced it will be broadcasting Canadian Football League (CFL) games on Hardcore Sports Radio (HSR) SIRIUS Satellite Radio Channel 98. Hardcore Sports Radio will offer football fans an extensive schedule of primetime live coverage of CFL games, from the regular season, through the playoffs, to the Grey Cup.
