About MuayThai and the MuayThai Premier League (MPL)
MuayThai, also known as Thai boxing, is an extremely effective and lethal form of martial arts utilizing punches, kicks, knees, and elbows. Originally practiced in the once closed society of Thailand, MuayThai has always flourished in the Asian region and has seen a dramatic increase in international participation over the last 30 years – from the development of professional fighters, to executives incorporating this form of martial arts into their workout routines.
The MPL is a structured league format comprised of five weight divisions – four male, one female – where fighters must earn their place in the finals. With eight competitors in each division, the fighters are split into two pools. In the Round Robin stage, each fighter faces the other three competitors in their group, earning three points for a knockout victory, two points for a decision victory, and one point for a draw. At the conclusion of the Round Robin stage, the top two fighters in each Group will advance to the elimination stage, where the top fighter in Group A will compete against the second place fighter in Group B and vice versa. The winners of these semi-final matches will then advance to the finals to compete for the MPL and WMC World Championships in their respective weight classes. At the conclusion of the season, athletes who advanced to the elimination stage will remain for season two, the following September. Fighters who do not advance to the elimination stage will be replaced with new competitors drafted by the league to compete in the upcoming season.

theScore Music Series Marks its 100th Episode With Megadeth
Exclusive interview with legendary band marks one-year anniversary of popular music series
TORONTO, August 15th, 2011 – Score Media Inc. (TSX: SCR), today announces the 100th episode and one-year anniversary of theScore Music Series, a unique music series hosted by theScore that focuses on popular musicians’ passion for pro sports . The 100th episode of the series, released today, features Megadeth front-man Dave Mustaine discussing his humble beginnings hustling fans at drag racing events and how his martial arts skills recently came in handy in an encounter with a surly fan.
Since its inception, theScore Music Series has engaged sports fans and music junkies alike. In July of 2010, theScore’s content team attended a Montreal music festival, Heavy MTL, to film segments for a feature on NHL goalie masks. Following conversations with Dave Mustaine of Megadeth, Rob Zombie and members of the band KoRn, the crew determined that they could fill a void in music by talking sports with musicians, allowing for unique insight into the group.
Since then, theScore Music Series has featured August 2011 Rolling Stone cover competition winners, the Sheepdogs, Seattle grunge legends, Alice in Chains, Rob Halford of Judas Priest and cult indie rock collective, Broken Social Scene to name a few.
“When it comes to sourcing interviews, a band’s stature in the industry or genre of music is secondary to the passionate sports stories they tell,” says Derek Snider, Manager of Content and Entertainment, theScore. “We know we’ve achieved what we set out to do when the artist or musicians rip on us for the failures of our favourite teams. That’s when it’s no longer rock star vs. reporter, but two sports fans busting each other’s chops.”
Over the past year, theScore Music Series has become increasingly popular, sparking widespread discussions about sports and music on both social and traditional media sites. Segments and archives of theScore Music Series are available at www.thescore.com/music.
