About Us
Executive Team
The Score’s executive team consists of:
- John Levy
-
President and CEO

Founder, Chairman and CEO of Score Media, John Levy has been a pioneer in the media and cable industries for over thirty years.
John joined his family’s small cable company in Hamilton shortly after his graduation from the University of Toronto Law School in 1978, and grew Western Co-Axial into one of the ten largest cable distributors in Canada. Before selling the cable business in 1999, Mr. Levy was already looking to the future. In 1994, he acquired Sportscope, an alphanumeric television channel, which broadcast the first ever 24-hour sports news ticker.
Over the past fourteen years, John’s vision and hard work have transformed Sportscope into Score Media; a leader in interactive and authentic sports entertainment. In 1996, Sportscope became Headline Sports when he petitioned and obtained a sports, news and information license from the CRTC in 1996. Today, The Score is seen in more than 6.6 million homes across Canada, and Score Media has grown to include Hardcore Sports Radio, a satellite radio network available across North America on SIRIUS Satellite Radio, and other interactive assets including theScore.com, ScoreMobile, and Score Poker. John’s passion has driven Score Media to the forefront of innovation in the sports media industry.
Those who know him best would tell you that his reputation as a hard-driving CEO who is constantly challenging traditional assumptions is only half the story. It is equally important to him that he, and those around him are always having a bit of fun. Case in point: although John will neither confirm nor deny the story, rumour has it that upon closing the recapitalization of his cable company, John celebrated by stripping off his shirt and tie. Exposed was a custom-printed t-shirt emblazoned with some thoughts regarding his former partner. A shrinking violet he is not!
